Late applications process
In exceptional cases, a Head of Department (or their Deputy) can ask for an application to be submitted late.
What is a late application?
Late applications are where:
the application was not submitted by the 5 working day deadline
or
- the Research Office wasn't given 4 weeks notice that the application was being made
The application will be submitted late on the understanding that:
- the Research Office will not carry out any checks
- the Department will accept liability and risks, including any shortfall in funding
How to submit a late application
You'll need to submit a late application at least 2 working days before the funder's deadline.
You'll need to include:
- the full and complete application, including a finalised costing
- the reason for the late submission
- the following approval statement: 'I acknowledge that although this application is late, I would like it to be submitted to the funder, and understand that this will not be checked by the Research Office. I acknowledge and accept that any errors or omissions in the application will be the responsibility of the department which shall bear any costs or consequences arising from such.’ Where the late application is a multi-department collaboration, Head of Department exceptional approval is required from each collaborating Department.
You can submit the late application by:
- adding it directly to the Worktribe project record as an approval comment
or
- emailing the Research Office along with the Worktribe project ID, PI name, funder and funder's deadline
