Public engagement
Through an impact-focused engagement approach, the public engagement team enables researchers to build partnerships with the relevant parties for their research, and the pathways required to create meaningful connections between research and society.
Through relational approaches, support and funding we create structures, projects and opportunities for communities, patient groups, and external partners to explore ideas with university researchers and shape future equitable research collaborations.
We have four interlinked strands of work:
- Advice, training, funding and recognition – helping generate an understanding of the value of engagement within the research and knowledge exchange environment and how to evidence it
- Large scale public events - creating spaces for knowledge exploration, and meaningful conversations between researchers and members of the public
- Community engagement - piloting new inclusive ways of working with community groups locally and building skills, processes and frameworks to support equitable national and global collaborations.
- Patient Public Involvement and Engagement – involving patients and people with lived experience in research, particularly in the non-clinical space, and developing tools and methodologies for this work
